Corinne Doret was born in France and moved to Australia in 1981. She has a background in Clinical Hypnosis and Counselling and has worked in this field offering Hypno-Cognitive & Behaviour Therapy as well as Natural Childbirth Management. She retired from her private practice in 2001 to focus on yoga program development for childbirth, children, and for people with disabilities.
Her PowerBirth® Program is based on her research and personal experience of a stress free, painless, effortless, natural, self-reliant and speedy homebirth. Her program which combines yoga and mind training, teaches the mothers to remain passive in childbirth and emphasises the value of "doing the least to benefit the most". This belief comes from the auhtor's own understanding of the needs of the mother in childbirth as she experienced it herself. She says "I realised as I was doing my research that what I did in childbirth was the complete opposite to what mothers are taught and to what most mothers would do in childbirth!"
She has developed and taught her PowerBirth program since 1999 and has provided presentations to midwives & childbirth educators in the private sector.
Corinne brings to her teaching 25 years of practical experience and knowledge that she has acquired through her studies and involvement with macrobiotics, astrology, eastern philosophies, meditation, aromatherapy, psychotherapy, psychology and yoga. Her approach to teaching is based on her own experience and self-exploration and reflects the inspiration of her studies and influence from the teachings of many western and eastern masters.
A yoga practitioner since 1993 she has trained in Hatha, Iyengar & Ashtanga yoga methods, Vipassana & Zen meditation. She has also been instructed and trained in the art of Thai Massage at Wat Po Thai Medical & Massage School in Bangkok.
Corinne has been teaching full time since 1999 at her studio, Westmead Private Hospital and other venues by invitation.
Corinne is married, has one daughter, and two cats. She enjoys a natural lifestyle and lives in Kenthurst on five acres of bushland. Much of her time is devoted to teaching, her own yoga practice and self development.
